• Advanced Poetry Workshops with Mary Jo Firth Gillett:

If you’re interested in a class, whether as a new or returning poet, please contact Mary Jo, mjfirth@aol.com  Poets who haven’t been in the workshops before, please first send three sample poems to Mary Jo in the body of an email or as an attachment.

• Contemporary Poetics with Vievee Francis:, at the Café 1923, 2287 Holbrook St., Hamtramck, Mondays, April 19 & 26, May 3, 10, 17 & 24, 7-9 pm. All writers welcome at this workshop. Vievee Francis is the winner of 2009 Rona Jaffe Foundation Writer’s Award.

• Advanced Poetry with Dawn McDuffie: at the Scarab Club, 217 Farnsworth & John R., Mondays, April 19 & 26, May 3, 10, 17 & 24, 7-9 pm.  All writers welcome at this workshop. Dawn McDuffie has taught Creative Writing at the Scarab Club since 1999.

• Creative Nonfiction and Fiction Writing Workshop with Margo LaGattuta: at Borders Books, on Rochester Rd. in Rochester. Fridays, April 23 & 30, May 7, 14, 21 & 28, 10 a.m. – noon.  Margo LaGattuta is a poet, prose writer and winner of the 2005 Mark Twain Award. 

• New! Creative Writing Workshop with Joy Gaines-Friedler: at the Farmington Community Library, 32737 W. 12 Mile Road. Mondays, April 19 - May 24  6:45 pm - 8:45 pm.  All writers welcome at this workshop.  We’ll explore poetry, creative non-fiction and short story. • New! A Memoir and Creative Nonfiction Workshop with Zilka Joseph: Tuesdays, April 20 & 27, May 4, 11, 18 & 25, 7-9 pm.

• New! A Poetry Workshop with Zilka Joseph: Wednesdays, April 21 & 28, May 5, 12, 19 & 26, 7-9 pm. At the Valley Ranch Apartments Clubhouse, 1315 Oak Valley Drive, Ann Arbor, 48108. (near Meijers on Ann Arbor-Saline Road.)
Participants receive prompts/reading material, write a piece each week, receive feedback from the class and guidance from the instructor —Zilka Joseph, an award winning, Pushcart- nominated writer.

• New! 2 Poetry in Motion Yoga Classes with Lisa Galperin: at Springfed Arts Home Office, 627 Lloyd Ave., Royal Oak.  Tuesday nights, April 20 - May 25 and Thursday nights, April 22-May 27, 7:15 pm -8:30 p.m.  All welcome.  *Class is limited to 6 participants.  Bring yoga mat and towel.  Lisa Galperin is certified through Jonny Kest Yoga Teacher Training.  She will offer an introductory class that incorporates yoga with the inspiration of a weekly poem.  Special price $80 for 6-week class, $120 for non-members.

The fee is $100 per workshop for members and $140 for non-members. Financial
aid available. You must register before workshops begin. Writing classes are limited to the first 12 people who enroll. Make checks out to Springfed Arts.
