Oakwood Hospital & MDW Poetry Workshops
Start Again June 4
Now Open to All

In 2006, M.L. Liebler, MDW Director, and Lisa Rutledge, Arts in the Spirit Director for Oakwood Hospital System, designed an accessible, inexpensive creative writing workshop program with an all star line up of instructors including Cheri L. R. Taylor, Lynne Schreiber, Karen Williams, Joy G. Friedler, Heather Buchanan and Liebler. The Arts for the Spirit program is designed to improve the quality of healing and care giving at Oakwood Healthcare System through various arts programming. Creating a restorative, healing environment that helps beautify and de-institutionalize an increasingly high tech environment is a priority.

Arts for the Spirit brings creative writing workshops and fine art to Oakwood patients, visitors and staff, conducting a range of art programs and services throughout the healthcare system.
Funding for the Arts for the Spirit program is made possible by generous grants from the MASCO Corporation and the Oakwood Foundation.
The workshops this summer will be held at 6pm-7:30pm on Wednesdays, June 4, 11, 18, 25 at Oakwood’s Village Plaza Office in suite # 400 on the 4th Floor. The Village Plaza building is Dearborn’s only tall building/mini-skyscraper located at 23400 Michigan Ave (at West Outer Drive on the northwest corner) Dearborn, MI 48124. The workshops are only $40 for all 4 sessions for MDW 2008 members or $60 for non-members.
