10 Sunday Kawita Kandpal’s poems have appeared in many journals such as TriQuarterly and Puerto del Sol. Her new book from Detroit’s Marick Press is entitled Folding a River. Aurora Harris is a poet and performance artist, educator, community activist, youth mentor, Pushcart Prize Nominee and Founder and President of World Voice Cultural Arts. Maria Mazziotti Gillan She is Founder and Director of the Poetry Center at Passaic County Community College. Sean Thomas Dougherty’s books include Nightshift Belonging to Lorca, a Paterson Poetry Prize Finalist, and Except by Falling, a 2000 Pinyon Press Poetry Prize winner. He teaches Creative Writing at Penn State Erie, and his 2007 book from BOA Editions is Broken Hallelujahs. Chris McCall , Detroit songstress, has performed and recorded with bands Thunderharp Choir, Jugglers and Thieves, Swamp Beggars and Blue School. Her new solo CD is titled Everyday the Rain. Chris’ voice has an amazing range and she takes brave leaps with her intervals and her lyrics. John D. Lamb, executive director of the nonprofit organization Springfed Arts is a singer-songwriter. His new CD Feel That won the 2007 Detroit Music Award for Outstanding Acoustic/Folk Recording. Detroit Poet Slam Champions featuring Award Winning Detroit Slammer: Versiz, Cassie Poe, Kahn Davison, Lashaun Phoenix Moore. Sadiq Bey, Muslimgauze musician, is Co-founder/Artistic Director of the African World Festival, the Stroh Signature Jazz Series, and Founding Editor of CityArts Quarterly in Detroit. A Detroit native, he now lives and works in Berlin, Germany. The Detroit Artists’ Workshop Reunion featuring Nationally Acclaimed Poets & Writers Robin Eichele, Bill Harris and Ron English will read and perform with The Magic Poetry Band. Also known as the “Trans-Love Energies” back in the 60s, Eichelle, Harris and English founded Detroit’s first avant-garde collaboration of poetry, visual arts, politics, music and education. The DAW served as a working cooperative to support an open artistic environment. Michael Crittenden, graduate of the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, has shared the stage with Hootie & the Blowfish, The Doobie Brothers, Peter Frampton, and many others. He is founding member and songwriter of music group Troll for Trout. Michael lives in Grand Rapids and records and produces other artists in his own studio, Mackinaw Harvest Productions. As a solo performer, his lyrics are deep and so are his chops. The Hummingbirds are the
“electro-coustic,” alt-country duo of Stephen Grant Wood and
Rachel Lynn Hercula. They won three 2007 Detroit Music Awards; Outstanding
Country Group, Outstanding Country Vocalist and Outstanding Instrumentalist.
